How long does brow lamination last?
About four to six weeks, with the right aftercare. Here’s how brow lamination works, how long a brow tint lasts and takes, and how to keep brows full and brushed-up in Calgary’s dry air.

The short answer
Brow lamination lasts about 4 to 6 weeks. The brushed-up shape relaxes gradually as your brow hairs grow and shed.
A brow tint lasts 3 to 6 weeks on the hairs (it fades from the skin within a few days). At Mood, a brow tint on its own takes about 15 minutes, and lamination with tint and a wax takes about an hour.
What brow lamination does
Brow lamination is a perm for your brows, set straight instead of curly. Your brow artist applies a lifting cream that softens the bonds in each brow hair, brushes the hairs into the shape you want (usually up and slightly out), then applies a setting lotion to fix them there. A nourishing oil or serum finishes the treatment.
The result is fuller, fluffier brows that stay brushed up, with gaps looking filled and unruly hairs tamed. It works with your natural brow hair, with no needles and nothing permanent.
How long does brow lamination last?
Most people get 4 to 6 weeks, and some a little longer. It depends on:
- How fast your brow hairs grow and shed.
- Your aftercare, especially keeping brows dry for the first day.
- Your skincare. Retinol, exfoliating acids and oil-based products on the brows soften the set sooner.
- Your brow hair. Coarse, stubborn hairs may relax sooner than fine ones.
Book your next lamination when the shape has relaxed, not before; lifting brows again too soon can leave hairs dry and brittle.
How long does a brow tint last?
Brow tint lasts 3 to 6 weeks on the hairs. It stains the skin slightly at first, which makes brows look extra defined for a few days, then that fades. Oil-based cleansers, exfoliants and daily sun speed up fading.
How long does brow tinting take?
The tint itself only processes for a few minutes. At Mood, a brow tint is a 15-minute appointment. Brow lamination on its own takes about 45 minutes, and lamination with tint and wax about an hour.
Aftercare
For the first 24 hours:
- Keep brows dry: no washing over them, no swimming, no steam or sauna.
- No brow makeup, and don’t rub or sleep face down on them.
Every day after:
- Brush brows up in the morning with a clean spoolie.
- Use a brow oil or serum a few nights a week to keep hairs soft.
- Keep retinol and acids off your brows.
Brow lamination in Calgary’s dry climate
Calgary’s dry air, chinooks and winter furnace heat dry out brow hairs too, and dry hairs look coarse and frizzy after lamination. A drop of brow oil or a conditioning serum at night keeps them soft and glossy between appointments. In summer, the sun here is strong and fades tint faster, so a hat helps your brows as much as your skin.
Brow lamination vs microblading
| Brow lamination | Microblading | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Sets your own brow hairs in place | Semi-permanent tattoo strokes in the skin |
| Needles | None | Yes |
| Lasts | About 4 to 6 weeks | Often a year or more |
| Best for | Full brows that won’t behave | Sparse brows or missing areas |
Mood offers lamination, tinting, waxing and threading for brows. We don’t offer microblading.

Questions we hear
Is brow lamination bad for your brows?
Not when it’s done well and spaced properly. Over-processing and lifting too often can dry hairs out, so give your brows time to grow out between treatments and keep them conditioned.
Can I tint my brows at the same appointment?
Yes. You can book lamination with a tint and a wax as one appointment of about an hour.
Will lamination work on thin brows?
It makes the hairs you have look fuller and can cover small gaps. If brows are very sparse, lamination has less to work with; ask your brow artist what they’d suggest.
Book brow lamination
Book brow lamination on its own, or with a tint and a tidy for fully finished brows in about an hour.
